The Building Industry association of Iron county is proud to present the 2010 Festival of Homes, where visitors can see the best and most innovative ways available in the building industry today. As you tour the homes, be mindful of the quality work and craftsmanship that went into these homes by being respectful to the contents and the other visitors.

Be sure stop at the displays in each garage offering information on the latest products and services available. Tickets are good for one visit per home. You are entitles to revisit one home, but if you want to do more you must buy a new ticket. All children 2 years of age and older must have a ticket to be admitted into the homes. You may be asked to remove your shoes before entering the homes. Please take your shoes with you so you will not have to return to the entry to reclaim them.

THE BUILDING INDUSTRY NOT ONLY PROVIDES HOMES FOR YOUR COMFORT AND COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS FOR BUSINESSES BUT ALSO SUPPORTS THE COMMUNITY

Those involved in the building industry provide many opportunities and benefits within the communities where they live and do business.

Over 40 companies are involved in the building of a single home. Those range from Architect/Designers to those who finish with painting and flooring. Take a moment to really look at the home you live in and just imagine all the things necessary to complete it.  You may not realize how many others are involved.  Things that you may not think of when you begin to build are banks, mortgage companies and title companies and, of course, you will need insurance and so do the employers.  Cities and Counties are also involved by approving plans and inspections.  Utilities provide initial installation as well as ongoing service.

The companies involved have many employees who not only have a job to support their family but they also pay taxes and buy goods and services which supports other business.  Gas stations, restaurants, retail and many more that provide goods and services.  Many of these businesses touch your life whether as an employee or a consumer or both.

Impact fees paid for through new construction provide the entire community with improved services as well as new parks and trails. New taxes add to the government’s ability to meet their other obligations without having to raise taxes on current residents.

The building industry also gives back to the community. Last year they built the Fire Safety House for the Cedar City Fire Department. This year they have almost completed the Hospitality House for the Valley View Medical Center and are currently involved in building a “Home for Our Troops” home for a local veteran. Members of the industry have donated labor and materials to these projects. All of these provide a needed service to the local community.

The building industry is not only a major contributor to the local economy but also supports the community.
